Ask five people to build you a website and you will get five prices with no obvious relationship to each other. The spread is real, and it comes down to a few things.

How much of it already exists

A template that gets your text and your photos dropped in is cheap because most of the work is done. A layout designed around your business costs more because someone has to think.

What has to connect to something else

A brochure site is one price. The moment it has to talk to a booking system, a payment processor, an inventory feed or a CRM, you are paying for integration work and for the testing that comes with it.

Who owns it afterwards

A low monthly fee often means you are renting. Stop paying and the site disappears. A one-off price where the domain, hosting and code end up in your name is a different product, and worth comparing carefully.

What is not included

Ask specifically: is hosting included, for how long? The domain? Who writes the text? How many rounds of changes? Most quotes that look cheap get expensive right here.
